Johannesburg, South Africa (9 November 2015): J. Walter Thompson, the world’s best known marketing communications brand, today announced the appointment of Lex Robinson as Chief Strategy Officer for J. Walter Thompson South Africa. In the new role, Robinson will manage the company’s strategic planning goals in South Africa, effective immediately. Robinson will report to Jim Faulds, CEO, J. Walter Thompson South Africa.
Robinson’s new role will be instrumental in shaping the South Africa team’s long term planning goals, and fostering partnerships that nurture new markets through innovative growth and expanding core capabilities.
Prior to the appointment Robinson has spent nearly 20 years of Strategic Planning experience on the global stage. His career began as Brand Strategy Manager for NatWest Bank in the UK, later taking over global planning assignments for TBWA and J. Walter Thompson. During this previous time at J. Walter Thompson Robinson built strong relationships with the agency’s global clients including HSBC, Shell, and Johnson & Johnson amongst others. Most recently Robinson was heading the global planning function on various Unilever brands for Lowe.
One of the highlights of Robinson’s distinguished career is the acknowledgement of his world-class expertise through an array of Strategic Planning Awards, such as the IPA Effectiveness Awards and APG Creative Planning awards, which represent some of the most reputable awards in the industry.
